Yeti ready to be unleashed at last

The Skoda Yeti is finally set to show its face. The firm has confirmed production of the two-wheel-drive SUV will go ahead in 2009.

Sharing its underpinnings with the Roomster means the Yeti (pictured) should prove a versatile family car. It will offer a choice of 1.6 and 2.0-litre petrol engines, or a 1.9 TDI. And its drop-down spilt tailgate doubles as a cycle rack.

Top hybrid Lexus limo hits dealers

Theluxurious Lexus LS600h limo is now on sale. Featuring a hi-tech powertrain, it claims to offer V12 petrol engine performance, but with diesel economy.

Thanks to the combination of an electric motor and a powerful 5.0-litre V8 engine, it will go from 0-62mph in 6.3 seconds, while returning 30.4mpg. Prices start at ÷£81,400, rising to ÷£88,000 for the long-wheelbase model.

From supercars to superminis...

Wild to mild – that’s the direction British supercar maker Caparo is heading in. The company has confirmed that it is designing a small newcomer.

The city car will make its debut in India, and is due to be launched in 2009. Made using composite materials, the lightweight car should be very efficient. But it will not be built by the firm itself – production will be franchised out to local factories instead.

Autumn deals on offer from Nissan

Nissan has freshened up its range for autumn. Its Micra Acenta leads the way, with a price cut to ÷£7,995 – a saving of ÷£800.

The Note Acenta is now available with zero per cent finance, while the Navara Sport can be upgraded to high-spec Outlaw trim at no extra cost.

Finally, the Pathfinder Sport gets a free Technology pack that normally costs ÷£2,000.
