Ignore the decals and...
Ignore the decals and Recaro sports seats on this race series MINI, and what have you got? The closest thing yet to official pictures of the John Coo÷per Works edition of the new MkII car.
Wherever you want to...
Wherever you want to go, the new Siemens VDO Dayton MS2110 should take you there with its full UK street mapping and seven-digit postcode recognition.
However, what impresses most about this latest device is that it can be operated remotely, using a controller which clamps on to the steering wheel – giving drivers the convenience of a factory-fit unit, many of which have steering wheel-mounted buttons, for the price of an aftermarket system.
What’s more, the MS2110 offers route calculation and active guidance so, if you decide to take a detour, the journey is re-calculated in seconds.
You can view the maps in 2D or 3D, although we think the bird’s-eye mode is easier to use. There are also clear graphics for direction arrows, street names and points of interest, while a range of six display colours enables users to adapt the screen to match their vehicle’s instrument illumination.
A further bonus is that the system can take current traffic news into account during route guidance. If there is a hold-up ahead, it gives an alternative, providing detailed traffic information; the driver can then choose between this and the original directions.
