A luxury sports car looks set to be built in Blackpool under the guidance of William Riley, a descendent of the firm"s founders. He also hopes to revive the MG logo on two high-performance motors based on the X-Power SV. Production is slated to start by the end of the year, with an annual target of 1,800 by 2010. The factory could even use ex-TVR workers, as it was also based in Blackpool.

We"re backing the hunt for the best qualified mechanics by the Retail Motor Industry Training (ReMIT) organisation. Individuals can enter or be nominated by their garage - or even a customer!

Everyone who applies will receive a questionnaire to complete before 15 January 2005. Those scoring more than 80 per cent go through to the second round, from which 12 finalists will be selected. The winner will be chosen at the Automotive Trade Show at the Birmingham NEC next April. As well as the title, they will also win í‚á£2,000 tax-free.
