It features a bridge wing across its nose cone, similar to the device already seen on McLaren’s car.
We"re all looking at...
We"re all looking at ways to drive more effi÷ciently these days. But how many motorists believe a fresh set of tyres would do the trick?
Michelin says it has the answer with its all-new Energy Saver rubber.
The French giant has a reputation for pro÷ducing tyres with low rolling resistance, and the newcomer builds on this. Bosses claim the technology employed in the latest range improves rolling resistance by nearly 20 per cent, and thus reduces the amount of energy needed to turn the wheel. In tests conducted by Michelin, the Energy Saver rubber used nearly 200ml less fuel per 100km on the combined cycle than five of the top-selling premium brand tyres. Over the entire life of a vehicle, this is said to represent a reduction of around one tonne of CO2 emissions.
We got a sneak preview of how the tyre works on the Michelin stand at Frankfurt, and you’ll be able to try it out for yourself early next year, when it hits fitters across the UK. The Energy Saver range will cover most makes and models on sale in this country, and it has already been chosen as original equipment on the all-new Peugeot 308.
