These are the first official pictures of the final production version, which will be unveiled at next month"s Geneva Motor Show. But regular Auto Express readers got their first glimpse of the undisguised convertible back in issue 784. The system is comprised...

The system is comprised of three elements - a GPS/GSM tracking system, a car-specific installation kit, and most intriguingly, an automatic driver recognition system (ADR).

It is the ADR that makes the system adhere to the Cat 5 standard. It works using a driver recognition tag, a credit card-sized transmitter confirms the driver"s identity independently of the vehicle keys.

If the tag is not detected by the ECU when the car is started, a buzzer sounds for 15 seconds. If the driver keeps moving, a silent alarm is sent to the JaguarWatch monitoring centre, and the police are notified, with the GPS signal keeping track of where the car is.

A fitted system will add ÷£1,401.75 to the price of a new Jag, and this includes 3-year subscription to the pan-European GSM system it uses.
