The retro Efijy is a...

The retro Efijy is a re-make of the 1953 FJ Holden, and is based on a brand new Corvette platform. Under the bonnet, there"s a mighty chrome-trimmed supercharged 6.0-litre V8 powerplant.

To help the newcomer cope with the massive power, the Corvette"s chassis has been upgraded and equipped with adjustable air-suspension. The sleek bodywork features plenty of eye-catching details, but the LED headlamps are the real highlight - they burn so bright, special fans are required to keep them cool.

Thanks to the enormous rear overhang, the hot rod measures an impressive 5.2 metres in length - although practicality clearly wasn"t a priority for the designers. The back seats are suitable for children only, while boot space is also limited by the two-door"s curvaceous rear shape.

Inside, the retro styling continues, with a two-tone dashboard, lots of chrome and sumptuous cream leather seats. However, no modern motor show star is complete without sat-nav. Hidden away beneath the Holden"s classic dash is an LCD screen which slides into view when required.

While the Efijy is not intended for production, it proves exactly how flexible the latest Corvette platform is. Without peeling back the stunning bodywork, there"s no way of knowing the chassis of America"s favourite sports car can be found underneath.
