Here’s a kit car...
Here’s a kit car that won’t take over your life. If you’ve always fancied building your own motor, but not the costs that go with it, how about trying this desktop version instead?
The official image shows...
The official image shows the sports car wrapped up alongside its legendary predecessor, but beneath the sheet lies an Opel-badged version of the US-only Saturn Sky. And the signs are that it could come to the UK as Vauxhall"s replacement for the VX220.
With the absence of a pure sports car in its stable, bosses at the Luton firm will be gauging public reaction to the Opel GT when the covers are pulled off at the Geneva Motor Show in March. However, if the two-seater does come to the UK, it will only be offered in left-hand-drive form, and is likely to have limited availability.
Unlike the VX220, which was developed in conjunction with Lotus, the GT is based on a platform shared with other GM brands - Pontiac"s Solstice uses the same rear-wheel-drive underpinnings.
While a naturally aspirated Sky is already on sale in the US, the Opel GT will be powered by a 260bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. A 0-60mph time of less than 5.5 seconds will give it the ability to challenge the Porsche Boxster.
