Hold onto your hats...
Hold onto your hats, the most powerful Bentley convertible ever has blown in! We brought you spy shots of the Bentley GTC Speed back in October, but these are the first official pictures of the 200mph drop-top.
The new structure will...
The new structure will stretch across Morecambe Bay from Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, down to Heysham in Lancashire. Not only will it cut journey times, the bridge will also generate its own power using the waves from the Irish Sea.
A new company called Bridge Across The Bay is proposing the scheme, and is comparing it to the 10-mile Oresund Link, which joins Denmark and southern Sweden.
The developers are keen to stress that the bridge is in the early stages of the consultation process, which will involve people from all over the region, and it could take up to 10 years to build. David Brockbank, chairman of the group, said: "This is an ambitious project, but it"s led by people who want to make a difference to their local area." Incredibly, the idea of building a bridge across Morecambe Bay was first suggested by inventor George Stephenson in 1834. The project"s eco-friendly credentials would come from a variety of technologies, including wave, wind and tidal power and solar cells. Electricity generated could then be sold to help pay for the bridge"s upkeep.
