The inspiration for the designs comes from the work of Ed Roth, a legendary US automobile artist from the Sixties, who was renowned for painting fantastic designs on the side of dragsters and custom cars. The Mavericks include Mensa MINI, which is driven by an egg-headed scientist, Modified MINI and Muscle MINI.

A MINI spokeswoman said: "Eight cards come in the pack, but you have to visit a dealership to collect the ninth." Unfortunately, there are no plans to bring the Mavericks to Britain.
