Back in 2003, the US firm pulled the covers off the Avenger concept at the Detroit Motor Show, but bosses chose not to use the name on the first wave of Dodge models. Instead, the Caliber compact family hatch arrives in July, while the Nitro SUV will follow in the first half of next year.

The impact of London’s new congestion charging rules on second-hand values is uncertain – because even the UK’s used car price guides can’t agree on the outcome!
From 27 October, drivers of vehicles that produce more than 225g/km of CO2 will be hit by a ÷£25 per charge to drive into the city – a hike of ÷£17. Even people living inside the zone will have to pay the full whack after Mayor Ken Livingstone removed the existing 90 per cent discount.
That could land residents with a ÷£500 bill every month, and the experts at Glass’s Guide fear they could flood the market with unwanted motors – with nationwide consequences. Chief car editor at the price bible, Jeff Paterson, said: “The new rules will turn people away from cars in the top bracket and this will have a national effect, dragging down values of prestige models in places unaffected by the charge.”
However, director of the VIP Trader Guide, Martin Keighley, urged motorists not to panic. “Demand for cars with high emissions will diminish in London, but we don’t expect this to affect prices elsewhere,” he said.
Keighley believes that owners of older vehicles hit by the increase will be most keen to offload. “The biggest area of the used market is for three, four and five-year-old cars, but at this level even a large value drop in percentage terms only equates to a few hundred pounds,” he explained. Own-ers of more modern prestige cars are more likely to keep them, he added.
