The new VW Golf has swept the board to claim the title of World Car of the Year 2009. The announcement was made at the New York Motor Show today, confirming the German hatch had beaten the other two finalists ò€“ the Ford Fiesta and Toyota IQ ò€“ to the crown.

The company plans to display it at the British expo in London"s Docklands in July.

The future of congestion...

The future of congestion charging outside of London has been called into doubt after Edinburgh residents voted against a scheme for the city. The poll was a major setback to the Government"s 10-year transport plan. It assumed 20 cities or towns would introduce tolls or a workplace parking levy by 2010.
