The National Mileage Register (NMR) is expanding fast – making it harder for criminals to clock used cars.

Makers such as BMW even provide mileage records for models that are being serviced or repaired. The NMR system alerts buyers if the mileage of a car entered on its V5 logbook during a change of ownership doesn’t tally with previous entries.
