Is it the end of mpg...

Is it the end of mpg as we know it? Certainly if Toyota and Honda have their way. They"ve teamed up to try and turn fuel economy figures on their heads. The second Swedish supercar...

The second Swedish supercar after the awesome Koeniggsegg is due to launch this autumn. It"s got all the things you"d expect of a supercar - gorgeous looks, a painted carbonfibre body, a 6-speed gearbox, and a chassis seemingly made from feathers and balsa wood, seeing as the whole car weighs a paltry 525kgs.

Take a look inside the production version of the Aston Rapide. This scanned image, originating from an in-house brochure, has been leaked onto the web and shows us the clearest view yet of the four-door-Rapide"s luxurious cabin.

As you can see the layout comprises of four individual, lightweight bucket seats with the centre console splitting the cockpit stright down the middle.

TFT screens fitted into the back of the front seats keep the passengers entertained, while two-tone leather reminds occupants that this is first and foremost a sports saloon. Stretched underpinning from the DB9 take the Rapide to over five metres long - so there"s a substantial boot in the back too.

Power comes from the DB9"s 470bhp 6.0-litre V12 and a price tag of around ÷£140,000 will place it below the DBS but above the DB9 in Aston"s range.

Check back on August 15 when we"ll have all the details and a full set of official images of Aston"s new family-friendly supercar. ÷  ÷
