Sharing its underpinnings...

Sharing its underpinnings with the all-new S-Class, it promises to be a far more dynamic sports coupé than its grand touring predecessor.

As the exclusive picture in this week"s mag shows, the CL will adopt the design of the CLK, with an arching roofline and no B-pillar. The front is inspired by the S-Class, while the rear has a sleek sloping tailgate. The model seen here is the range-topping CL 63 AMG, but an even more extreme variant is expected to join the line-up later.

Cheaper versions will get lesser V6 and V8 petrol engines, as well as the S-Class"s smooth diesel powerplant. Pricing levels will not be released until the coupé"s launch at the Paris Motor Show in September.
