Residents living near roads being repaired have been warned to look out for bogus workers offering to resurface their drives. It comes after complaints from several householders in Wansford, Cambs. They had been approached by men claiming to work for the Highways Agency, who said they could use up excess tarmac by recovering drives. Work is going on nearby on the A1.

Racing a four-wheel-drive...

Racing a four-wheel-drive Toyota Auris, Prost kept his cool and made the most of 10-time champ Yvan Muller’s absence to win the opening round staged high up in France’s Val Thorens ski resort.

With sub-zero hero Muller choosing not to defend his title, Prost has been installed as red-hot favourite to win this year’s spectacular series.

He dominated the first race, leading the final from start to finish to win from Bertrand Balas, also in a Toyota. However, another former grand prix star Olivier Panis already has a mountain to climb. Also racing for Toyota alongside Prost and Balas, Panis got off to a slow start, only finishing eighth in the opening encounter. He will be hoping to make up lost ground when the chills and thrills resume in Andorra this weekend.
