Patrick Runal, from Finnish anti-viral firm F-Secure, believes vehicles may be at risk of infection by bugs spread via Bluetooth headsets. Once inside a handset, he says, the problem program can spread to any device using a similar operating system.
"There are already a number of viruses which affect phones, and it"s only a matter of time before vehicles are susceptible," said Runal. However, any attack is unlikely to cause an accident. Entertainment, navigation and communication systems are the most likely to be disabled.
