Auto Express has set...
Auto Express has set itself the toughest challenge yet, to find the UKò€™s hardest roads to reach! Our epic journey took us from the dizzying heights of the Applecross Peninsula in the Scottish Highlands to the murky depths of the Dragonby Mine in Scunthorpe, Lincs ò€“ where 160 miles of tunnels lie 90 metres under ground.
Not only did it reveal...
Not only did it reveal its new BMW M3-rivalling IS-F, but the covers were also pulled off the next evolution of the LF-A supercar concept.
First seen at the Detroit Motor Show in 2005, the original LF-A whet our appetite for a range-topping Lexus - but now with several styling tweaks, bosses are hinting strongly that it will become a production reality.
True to the maker"s plan to "build a supercar with world-class performance", the LF-A has an incredible V10 delivering more than 500bhp to the rear wheels. Top brass claim a theoretical top speed of 200mph, making the LF-A a true Ferrari rival.
Meanwhile, Lexus also revealed its new performance compact executive, the IS-F. Our teaser shot in Issue 940 showed its unique twin-stacked oval exhausts, but the front end is equally striking, with a deep splitter and bul÷ging bonnet. The 350bhp 5.0-litre V8 is mated to an eight-speed auto gear÷box with paddleshift manual override. This gives 0-60mph in less than five seconds, and enables the IS-F to rival the Mercedes C55 AMG. Prices will be revealed closer to next year"s launch.
