Drivers pay í‚á£9.95 to download software from the firm"s website and have the ex-Monty Python star - who also played hotelier Basil Fawlty in Fawlty Towers - tell them when and where to turn and at which exit to leave the roundabout. It"s the first time a celebrity has given his voice for providing directions.

A Tom Tom spokesman said: "John Cleese is instantly recognisable, and this offers us a perfect platform from which to extend our services."
