Citroen UK says that although the makeover will give the range an injection of "attitude" and enhance its appeal to young male drivers, the firm doesn"t believe there will be much demand in Britain for mech- anical upgrades. In addition, it wants to keep pricing as low as possible.
The X-TR will use the C3"s 90bhp 1.4 and 110bhp 1.6 petrol engines, as well as a 92bhp 1.4 HDi turbodiesel, mated to five-speed manual or SensoDrive semi-auto boxes. It will get high standard spec including four airbags, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, air-con, CD and central locking. Prices aren"t yet confirmed, but expect the range to kick off at í‚á£11,750 for the 1.4 petrol and rise to around í‚á£14,000 for the flagship 1.4 turbodiesel.
