Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the drop-top "entry-level" model gets an electric folding roof just as impressive as its performance. At the push of a button on the dash, the slatted carbon fibre engine cover opens and out comes the fabric top. It"s quick too, raising or dropping in only 20 seconds.

Meanwhile, the firm has launched yet another small car in its home market (lower image). The Verisa offers buyers a more upmarket alternative to the 2. Aimed at young professionals, it has rounded body styling plus a high-class cabin with flexible rear seating.
The Verisa also features keyless entry, plus a stereo which works in a similar way to an Apple iPod, storing up to 3,000 songs on its hard drive. The car may come to the UK, but is unlikely to arrive before 2006.
