Lithium is used in many rechargeable packs, such as those in the Tesla Roadster. But experts say supplies of the metal could run low as soon as 2015. Experts have been studying the huge salt flats in China and South America, where lithium is sourced, to see whether there is enough to cope with the anticipated surge in demand, reports the China Car Times. With the growth rate for consumer electronics and battery-powered cars so high, they reckon that by 2015 there would only be enough left to run a total of 1.5 million cars!

Back in 2003, the US firm pulled the covers off the Avenger concept at the Detroit Motor Show, but bosses chose not to use the name on the first wave of Dodge models. Instead, the Caliber compact family hatch arrives in July, while the Nitro SUV will follow in the first half of next year.

Here"s another special edition Kia to stir the Soul! This is the Tempest ò€“ a limited run model which comes in Titanium Silver paintwork with black high-gloss bumpers and door mirrors. It also gets rather nifty black 18-inch alloy wheels too.

Inside, there"s a host of shiny new trim pieces, with a metallic fascia and chrome inserts for the dashboard and instrument binnacle. But that"s not it, though ò€“ you also get a reversing camera, a punchier stereo (complete with a speaker mounted in the centre of the dashboad), a sub-woofer in the back and an amplifier too.

The Soul Tempest is available now with the choice of a 1.6-litre petrol or diesel engine. Prices kick-off at Ò£12,845.
