Vauxhall has taken the wraps off the hatchback version of the new Vectra - but only in this slightly unusual shot of the whole family. Pictured second from the right, it features a new bumper and restyled tail-lights. On sale in October, it will be the top-seller, accounting for around 80 per cent of UK sales.

German firm Volkswagen...

German firm Volkswagen has announced prices for the all-new Polo ò€“ and the supermini star will kick off at only Ò£10,035 for the base 1.2-litre S petrol.

At the other end of the range, the flagship SEL 1.6-litre TDI diesel will cost Ò£14,910.

Initially, the latest Polo is set to arrive with five engine options.

A 1.2-litre four-cylinder with either 59bhp or 69bhp and a 1.4 with 84bhp make up the three petrol options, while VWò€™s fresh 1.6-litre common-rail TDI in either 74bhp or 88bhp state of tune provides the diesel choice.

The newcomer is available in four trim levels, with a generous standard spec that includes four airbags, ABS and ESP. Optional kit incorporates touchscreen sat-nav, DAB digital radio and electronic climate control.

Despite being larger than the outgoing model, the Polo weighs less ò€“ which means there will be significant improvements to both economy and emissions.

This will be further boosted by the arrival of a BlueMotion variant in late 2010.

Buyers can order the Polo now, with first deliveries in October.

Only the five-door car will be available at first, with the three-door due in December.

A brand new, 1.2-litre, petrol turbo packing 104bhp will become available in early 2010, while a GTI version will complete the range late next year.
