Feast your eyes on the next stunner from Renault! Hot on the heels of the new two-door Laguna, these are the first pictures of the Mégane Coupé.

The sporty three-door will be the flagship of the forthcoming new range, which is due to go on sale in 2009.

Up front is an uncluttered nose with a bold Renault badge, distinctive headlights and an air intake positioned in the lower bumper. These combine with a rakish roofline and rising tail to give the car a sensational look. Neat details taken from the Mégane hatch include chunky wheelarches, sharp creases in the wings and distinctive tail-lights.

The newcomer evokes memories of the original Mégane Coupé, which went on sale in 1996 and had a loyal fanbase. However, the new car has a much curvier shape and a more upmarket feel. The two-door is based on a new platform developed in conjunction with partner firm Nissan, and the addition of sporty suspension means the Coupé should offer a fun driving experience.

Prices are likely to start from ÷£16,500 when sales begin in late 2009.
