Fancy pushing a Subaru...

Fancy pushing a Subaru to the limit? Then you should try this driving day with Prodrive, the Japanese firm’s World Rally Championship-winning team, at its proving ground in Kenilworth, Warks.

So, what do you get for your money? Well, the day starts with a hot breakfast – although you’ll have to sign up before tucking in. There is a safety briefing, and then you’re straight behind the wheel to enjoy the four activities.

First up is learning car control on the slippery acrylic circle, and then it’s on to the wet tile surface test, where you discover how to brake in low-grip situations. This is a great fun way of improving your skills in day-to-day driving in poor conditions.

There’s a tough off-road track which is tackled in a Subaru Forester – but for us, the tarmac rally stage in an Impreza STi was the highlight. You are encouraged to push the 4WD machine hard through a mix of flowing bends and tight corners.

With a total of 80 minutes spent behind the wheel, the day offers brilliant value for money.
