Drivers could soon be seeing red if they attempt to go the wrong way up a one-way street.

German electronics expert Siemens VDO has developed a minicam which sits behind the rear view mirror and can spot no entry signs. When it recognises the familiar red and white symbol, a corresponding image is

displayed on the dash and a warning sound triggered.

The set-up could also be incorporated into advanced head-up display systems to make an even greater impact. The one way street warning

technology is being developed by Siemens VDO as part of a package of driver aids aimed at revolutionising car safety.
