Development of the new...

Development of the new Focus 4x4 is well advanced. We spied several C-MAX-based test mules in March, which featured extended arches to cover the car"s wider track, plus a raised ride height.

The C-MAX bodies used by the prototype are smaller than the actual car. Underneath, you may spot the diff casing, too, proving drive is going to the rear wheels. Look closer and you"ll see a twin exhaust, indica÷-ting the presence of the 217bhp 2.5-litre turbo five-cylinder engine from the Focus ST. As in the S-MAX line-up, the model with this unit would be at the top of the range.
