The Sexy Green Car Show...
The Sexy Green Car Show is back! Following the success of last year’s event, the eco-friendly motor expo returns. And the Eden Project in Cornwall – home to the two biggest greenhouses in the world – will play host for the second year in a row, from 23-31 May.
Despite widespread rumours...
Despite widespread rumours that the basic skeleton of the model shown here was a top-secret McLaren test car, the bare chassis is actually a technology mule for a group of University of Munich designers.
Unveiled at last week"s Essen Motor Show, the EHV - Experimental Handling Vehicle - has some heavyweight backers. Public investors include BMW, MINI, Mercedes, Audi, Brembo and Pirelli. They are all hoping that, in working together, they can develop cost-effective technology for use in a wide range of models.
Look closely at the project prototype and you will notice race car-style inboard suspension and an advanced tubular chassis which forms a super-stiff rollcage structure. A mid-mounted engine, complete with an enormous exhaust system, is also plain to see.
With testing still ongoing, the next stage in this car"s development process will be to get a German MoT carried out on it, allowing public road trials. But don"t expect to see the wacky two-seater on the Autobahn - designs are already on the drawing board to cover the mechanicals in a sleek roadster body.
