A leading car rental firm has reported a drop in the number of its customers prosecuted for speeding – but the number of general road fines has rocketed. National Car Rental, which has 40,000 vehicles in the UK and forwards penalties to the hirer, says the number of traffic fines is twice as high as last year.

But you don’t have to wait until then to see it, thanks to exclusive spy pictures in this week"s Auto Express, which clearly reveal the front of the all-new model.
It has the latest Renault family nose – complete with a smooth bonnet and headlamps inspired by the Twingo. However, don’t be fooled by this prototype’s conventional five-door layout, because the bodywork is hiding the platform of a new three-door variant. The current Kangoo is only available as a five-door, but the French company is preparing a smaller version to boost the compact MPV’s appeal further.
Auto Express has already spied the new Kangoo during an earlier promotional photoshoot (Issue 915), and the five-door holdall will feature practical sliding rear doors with a huge lifting tailgate at the rear. It looks set to offer even greater interior space than the current model, and the improved cabin is expected to offer more creature comforts and better trim materials than before. Top-of-the-range models will use Renault’s frugal 1.9 dCi diesel, while the smaller 1.5-litre dCi oil-burner will also feature. Petrol power is likely to come from the 1.4 and 1.6-litre engines available in the Clio line-up.
The Kangoo is one of a raft of new model launches coming from the manufacturer over the next three years. Auto Express tested the latest Twingo last week (New Cars, Issue 965) and the firm is also preparing to unveil the Koleos, its first compact SUV, which is due early next year.
