Just a week after Auto Express revealed exclusive pictures of the sporty D-MAX people carrier, the mag"s photographers snapped its bigger sibling, the Galaxy. They caught the disguised prototype undergoing testing in Germany, along with its smaller brother - and these pictures give the best indication yet of the blue oval"s strategy behind the two new models.
... definitive proof...
... definitive proof of Brit÷ain"s five fastest roads. And Auto Express can exclusively reveal that the win÷ner is the A74(M) from Gretna to the M74 in Scotland.
Despite having a 70mph limit, it has an average vehicle speed of 72.2mph. "It"s mainly a business route between the M6 and M74, and has relatively light use," said a spokesman for sat-nav firm Traffic- master, which compiled the report. "This is why the A74(M) is quite a lot quicker than the national average for UK motorways, which works out to 60mph." Second was the M6 Toll (71.8mph) and the M45 (68.9mph). The M69 and M40 were joint fourth on 67.6mph - so four out of the five fastest roads are in the Midlands.
The data is collected from Traffic÷master"s roadside cameras and driv÷ers using the company"s Smartnav route-planning device. "We feed the information back into our systems to make Smartnav more efficient," explained the spokesman.
The slowest motorway is the A601(M) spur in Lancashire, which has an average speed of 35.5mph.
